Deutz AG Plant Fire Department

The roots of today’s industrial fire brigade of DEUTZ AG date back to 1889, when the company was founded in Cologne. Over the decades, DEUTZ has developed into one of the world’s leading manufacturers of advanced engine and drive systems. Even under its former name, Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG (KHD), the importance of a professional in-house fire protection service for industrial operations was recognized early on. The industrial fire brigade has been officially recognized by the state since 1960 and has stood for professional hazard prevention and emergency response ever since.

Today, the fire brigade is part of DEUTZ SICHERHEIT Gesellschaft für Industrieservice mbH, a subsidiary of DEUTZ AG. Within this organization, around 80 employees ensure comprehensive security services, including 52 dedicated members of the industrial fire brigade.

The central control room is currently located at the Kalk site and serves as the operational hub, coordinating and managing all emergency responses. Looking ahead, a new, state-of-the-art control center is already under development at the Porz site to further enhance our operational capabilities.

With a fleet of 11 emergency vehicles and two duty shifts, we provide rapid and professional response services around the clock. Our responsibilities include preventive and active fire protection, technical assistance, and ensuring the safety of production and operational processes.

A key focus of our work is prevention: through regular inspections, employee training, and involvement in safety planning processes, we actively help to identify and minimize risks at an early stage. At the same time, continuous training and professional development ensure that our team is always prepared to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Close cooperation with public fire departments and authorities is an integral part of our daily work, ensuring seamless coordination in case of major incidents.
